Petko Georgiev was unanimously elected a member of the Board of the Association of Business Clusters (ABC) during the Annual National Meeting “Clusters and Business Organisations on the Path of Development”, organised by ABC on 14 June in Plovdiv. The active work of ICT Cluster – Burgas, represented by Georgiev, for the development of the business and cluster environment in Bulgaria, as well as for attracting high-tech companies to South-East Bulgaria, were the participants’ reasons for the choice.
“I see the serious work ABC has done so far, and I am ambitious to develop even more significant initiatives and projects together with my colleagues in the organisation,” said Petko Georgiev. “The focus of my work will be regional and sectoral policies, as well as cooperation with European organisations and institutions,” he added.
The Association of Business Clusters was founded in 2009 and is the main Bulgarian platform for cluster cooperation, information exchange and networking. It unites and defends the interests of clusters, stimulates and enhances cluster development and actively participates in creating and changing cluster policies in Bulgaria. ABC currently has 17 members – 15 full and 2 associate members.
In 2017–2019 ABC built and consolidated its position in its relations with the state administration and achieved greater attention to the issues it raised. ABC took an active part in the negotiations on the indicators for the project selection procedure “Development of Innovation Clusters” under the Operational Programme “Innovation and Competitiveness”, and was recognised as a reliable partner whose expertise is sought and valued. ABC is a partner in many significant international projects and organises events and information activities.
ABC is one of the founders of the new initiative to create a European Cluster Association.
